This program provides hands-on, real-world experience in industrial settings, and can be completed within a single year after the bachelor's degree. Students will complete two semesters of graduate-level courses at MIT (core plus electives), followed by one semester at industrial sites of the practice school under the direction of resident MIT staff. Credit for the practice school semester is accepted in lieu of a master's thesis.

Students should have completed a master degree for doctorate program admissions and bachelor degree for master program admissions. They must have scored the minimum requirement in either TOEFL or IELTS. The minimum requirement for Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is a minimum score of 550 (paper-based test), 213 (computer-based test), or 80 (internet test), however some departments and programs require submission of a TOEFL score of 610 (paper-based test), 255 (computer-based test), or 103 (internet test) or higher. The minimum requirement for International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is minimum score of 7.0, however some departments and programs require submission of an IELTS score of 7.5. GRE or GMAT is required for some courses.
