This program focuses on the development of a basic understanding of all physical processes of earthquake generation, wave propagation and structural response. Measurements of strong ground motion and of structures are used to develop methods of predicting the characteristics of future earthquake shaking, soil-structure interaction and structural response.

Applicant should have a master's degree from an accredited American college or university, or from a foreign institution of acceptable standing. They must demonstrate from their previous major studies that they meet the level of academic achievement and will be successful in advanced study. They should have a grade point averages; GRE scores and TOEFL scores of 600 or more in paper-based test, 250 in computer-based test or 100 on the Internet-based TOEFL (IBT) with not less than 20 (out of 30) in listening, reading, writing, and speaking components. Students need to have a score of 600 or more on the Critical Reading section of the SAT.
