普林斯顿大学初名为纽泽西学院(the College of New Jersey)，于1746年设立于Elizabeth，是英格兰北美四大学院之一。1747年迁至纽渥克(Newark)。1756年迁至普林斯顿，于一八九六年正式将学校更名为普林斯顿大学(Princeton University)。普林斯顿大学是常春藤盟校之一。
普林斯顿大学离纽约城，费城及大西洋海岸只有一小时车程。运动设施齐全，包括高尔夫，网球，划船，游泳等。Pocomo Mountains,大约75英里远，是滑雪和野营的好地方。这里表演艺术和艺术博物馆相对丰富。

机械与航空航天工程系(Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering)：
