This program offers degree in the physics, chemistry, and biology of the atmosphere-ocean system. Its research in theory, modeling, and observations has broad applications to environmental issues, including air quality, weather and climate prediction, climate change, and natural resource management. There are four major research areas within the Department: Climate and Weather ; Chemistry and Radiation ; Oceanography , and Space Physics.

In addition to students holding bachelors' degrees in meteorology or atmospheric sciences, graduates with degrees in relate d disciplines -- astronomy, chemistry, engineering, geophysics, oceanography, mathematics, and physics are encouraged. Grades, standardized test scores, letters of recommendation, statement of goals, writing samples are required. TOEFL scores is required for international applicants.
