This program includes basic courses in nuclear engineering, courses in an area of specialization, supporting courses in related areas, and may include a thesis or research project under the direction of his or her adviser. The number of required course and research credit hours normally is 33. Coursework may be substituted for the research project credit when special circumstances warrant such a plan. Such circumstances might involve prior extensive research experience or externally-supported students on limited time programs for government or industry. Courses may be selected from those offered by nuclear engineering, as well as those offered by other departments, as long as the requirement of essential coherency is met. Related areas may be physics, mathematics, an engineering discipline, or other choices pertinent to the student's objectives.

Master's Degree Admission: Minimum 3.2/4.0 GPA. B.S. in Nuclear Engineering, related Engineering, or Physics. Admission requires approval of Graduate Committee. TOEFL is required for International Students. Minimum TOEFL scores of Writing 18, Speaking 18, Listening 14, Reading 19, Total 77 or 550 on the previous test score. Must have been taken within the past two years. GRE is only required for students seeking financial support. Minimum GRE scores of 550 verbal, 750 quantitative and 4.5 analytical are expected. Must have been taken within the past two years.
