Mission & Vision
Mission
The School of Education at Drexel University seeks to enrich knowledge and practice related to lifespan learning, based on the most current and appropriate research and practice. Our goal is to improve human understanding through programs and activities that emphasize creative uses of human effort, technology, and problem solving.

Vision
The School of Education’s vision is to be identified as:

•A national center and the Drexel locus of practical knowledge related to excellence in teaching and learning throughout the lifespan and across experiential contexts
•A willing and able partner in the development and delivery of high quality instruction in a variety of modalities (e.g. face-to-face, mediated, synchronous, asynchronous, etc.)
•A willing and able partner in collaborating with other Drexel University colleges and schools, as well as other educational organizations to provide unique combinations of knowledge and practice in order to address developing educational challenges.
•A provider of elementary and secondary teaching professionals with exceptional knowledge and teaching skills in math, the sciences, and technology.
•The premier provider of entry and mid-level higher education professionals with formal preparation in an area of practice.
•A unique source of informal education practitioners practicing online, in cultural organizations, and individually.
•A strategic provider of adult learning professionals practicing in business, the military, and government.
•A source of Ph.D. and Ed.D. graduates of the highest caliber who demonstrate effective leadership in the improvement of education/training.
•A center for research related to educational improvement, especially in the area of learning technologies.
•A community partner in advancing the quality of education available in the City of Philadelphia’s schools and in similar relationships regionally, nationally, and internationally.
•A source of knowledge and services related to “informal learning” strategies for acquiring academic knowledge, personal and professional development, and recreational learning.
•A community of learning with a common aspiration to improve the human condition through caring and creative relationships.
