Master's Degree Overview
The Counseling and Educational Psychology Department at Indiana University offers a 36 credit hour Master's degree in Learning and Developmental Sciences. Master's students may choose the psychology track or the inquiry methodology track. Each student is assigned a program advisor who assists in designing a program of study. - Educational Psychology (9-12 credit hours)- Courses are selected from one or more of the subareas of psychological studies, which include human development or learning and instructional cognition. Students in the psychology track must take 12 credit hours of course work in this category. Inquiry track students must take 9 hours.

- Foundations (3 credit hours)- This may be a course in philosophy, sociology, history or anthropology. Typically an H-prefixed education course is used to fulfill this requirement.
- Curriculum Theory or Methods (3 credit hours)- This requirement may be waived for students with undergraduate course work in education and for students who will not seek a position in public education.
Electives (9-12 credit hours)- Other relevant courses, in or outside of Learning and Developmental Sciences, to bring total hours to 36. Elective courses must contribute to the integrity of the student's program and must be approved by a program advisor.
