Areas of Study
In the School of Communication, students gain a better understanding of the
processes, role and power of communication. Students will acquire practical and
analytical skills and knowledge of communication principles, how to understand
audiences, shape messages, and interact with individuals and technologies. They
also will learn about the power and influence of communication on society
The faculty in the School of Communication have highlighted four Undergraduate
Program Areas:
Communication Analysis and Practice (CAP) 
Students specialize in different areas including public opinion and media
effects, relational and health communication, and communication and advocacy.
New Media and Communication Technology (COT)

Study to understand the relations between communication technology and
communication processes in different contexts.
Public Affairs Journalism (PAJ)

Our journalism students are on the cutting edge of the skills and technology
needed to succeed in the journalism workplace, while at the same time steeped in
the fundamental skills of reporting, investigating and writing that are a
foundation for any journalist.
Strategic Communication (SCM)

Focus areas include knowledge management, negotiation, team problem solving,
leadership, inter-organizational relationships, and persuasive communication in
sales and marketing.
