ESM announces new GK-12 Assistantships and Fellowships for doctoral students enrolled or enrolling in the School of the Environment 2011-12 academic year.

Congratulations to ESR doctoral student Tim Davidson who was selected to receive the David Dunnette Scholarship Award. Tim will be traveling to Victoria, British Columbia where he will give an oral presentation at the International Marine Conservation Congress.

Dr. Elise Granek was recently approved to join the Oregon Ocean Policy Advisory Council's Science and Technical Advisory Committee. The governor-appointed committee works with the public to make recommendations on issues of ocean policy ranging from ocean-based energy generation plans to developing marine reserves in the territorial sea.

 

Departmental Information
Our department has 15 full-time and tenure-track faculty. We also have an additional fifteen or more associated faculty, adjunct faculty and research staff.

ESM is one of the participating departments in the newly-created School of the Environment.

 

 

Environmental Science and Management offers two undergraduate degrees - Environmental Studies and Environmental Science. We also offer a minor in Environmental Studies and a minor in Sustainability.

At the graduate level, students can earn a Master of Science or a Masters of Environmental Management degree. The department is proposing a new Professional Science Master's in Environment Science and Managemen to begin in Fall 2011. Students can also earn a Certificate of Hydrology.

Environmental Science and Management offers a doctoral degree through the School of the Environment PhD program.

Environmental Science and Management is distinct in that we also host four research centers or programs. These are the Center for Lakes and Reservoirs, the Aquatic Bioinvasions Research and Policy Institute (collaboratively with the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center), the Student Watershed Research Program and the Environmental Professional Program.
