ELPNO 2011 - gearing up for the Executive Leadership Program for Nonprofit Organizations.
Overview
As the nation’s economic and social environments have become more complex, the role of the nonprofit sector has grown in importance. At the same time, the sector faces the challenges of technology changes, shifting demographics, global influences and increasing connectedness to the private and government sectors. To ensure the sector’s success, scholars and practitioners need to work together to develop understanding of how the sector functions, to improve management tools and practices, and to inform public policy. The Nonprofit Studies Program provides the opportunity to coordinate intellectual resources in order to more effectively contribute to this effort.
Located within the Andrew Young School of Policy Studies (AYSPS) of Georgia State University, the Nonprofit Studies Program is in a unique position to promote the principles of economics, public policy analysis and effective management in the nonprofit sector. The School’s namesake, Ambassador Andrew Young, provides a vision for socially responsible capitalism, as reflected in his life’s work as an ordained minister, human rights activist and public servant. Dennis Young, the Director of the Nonprofit Studies Program and holder of the endowed Ramsey Chair, brings a vision of excellence stemming from his national reputation as a nonprofit educator and researcher and his distinguished record as a sector leader.
