Curriculum
This program is designed to prepare professionals for positions of management and leadership in non–profit organizations working to improving social and economic conditions. Both in–class and extracurricular activities stress student awareness of and participation in social services that shape and serve the public interests in these areas. The curriculum covers diverse types of non–profit and non–governmental organizations (NGOs), as well as their varied objectives and functions, including community-based organizing, outreach, and advocacy.

NGOs play a vital role in shaping public policy. The IPPAM curriculum is relevant to organizations working toward the following goals:

community participation
grassroots economic development
women's rights, family and child well–being
urban renewal
educational reform
environmental protection
international cooperation
good governance

Courses
Program participants acquire the skills needed to effectively lead and manage non–profit organization — specifically designing, promoting, supervising and evaluating social service campaigns. Key operational functions such as planning, fund–raising, marketing, negotiating, dispute resolution and problem solving are highlighted as well.

IPPAM provides a supportive study environment that facilitates a smooth transition to the U.S. academic culture. Participants benefit from building strong and lasting relationships with faculty, other graduate students, and professionals in locally based NGOs.
