Oregon State University offers conditional admission to applicants who meet all of OSU's international admission requirements except the English language proficiency requirement.
Applicants do not need to apply separately for conditional admission. Conditional admission will be automatically granted for eligible students who apply for admission to an OSU undergraduate degree program. Students who are admitted conditionally will need to enroll in language or a combination of language and academic classes depending on language proficiency level. Full admission to Oregon State University is granted once the student meets the minimum language proficiency requirement. Language classes are offered at INTO Oregon State University (INTO OSU) a program of Oregon State that provides language training and academic preparation for international students who are not yet eligible for full admission to the University.
Conditional Admission for the 2011-2012 Academic Year
- If you have a TOEFL score 60-79 or an IELTS score of 5.5-6.0 you may enroll part-time with OSU and part-time with INTO OSU.
- If you have a TOEFL score 59 or less or an IELTS score of 5.0 or less, you must enroll full-time with INTO OSU (Academic English) for one or more terms.
- Students who have not provided a TOEFL or IELTS score prior to enrolling will be required to enroll full-time in English language courses for at least the first term. If a student is able to provide a TOEFL or IELTS score prior to enrolling, he/she may be eligible to enroll part-time in Academic courses and part-time in English language courses, depending on the score.
- Summer Term applicants: conditionally admitted students must enroll full-time with INTO OSU (Academic English) regardless of TOEFL or IELTS test scores.

Conditionally admitted students will receive an OSU I-20 that indicates bachelor's degree and an additional 12 months of Academic English or a total 60-72 months for degrees that generally take 4-5 years to complete.
