There are 12 courses required in the sociology major, totaling between 49-53 units. All courses taken to fulfill major requirements must be sociology courses (with the exception of statistics or logic). Courses from other departments cannot be used to fulfill major requirements. Students must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average in the major. All sociology courses must be taken for a letter grade, with the exception of statistics or logic, which may be taken P/NP. Sociology 5, 101A, and 101B must be passed with a C- or better. The 12 sociology major requirements are divided into the following categories: 3 Prerequisites - Sociology 1, 5, and statistics or logic, 2 Theory courses - Sociology 101A and 101B, 3 Core sociology courses, 3 Elective sociology courses, 1 Seminar in sociology.
国际学生入学要求:
Applicants should complete the ACT Assessment plus Writing Test or the SAT Reasoning Test. In addition, all applicants must complete two SAT Subject Tests in different subject areas selected from history, literature, mathematics (Math Level 2 only), science or a language other than English. Students who are California resident with a GPA of 3.0 or above in the required courses, must achieve the test score total indicated in the University’s Freshman Eligibility Index. Nonresidents must attain a minimum 3.4 GPA in the A - G courses and the test score total indicated in the Eligibility Index under Non-California Residents, or meet eligibility requirements by examination alone.
