This program provides with an educational grounding in the principles common to all materials (structure, thermodynamics, and kinetics) before they research a specialized field (biomaterials in immunology, production of latex in ancient meso-America, defect nucleation and growth, to list a few recent projects).

Students should have completed a master degree for doctorate program admissions and bachelor degree for master program admissions. They must have scored the minimum requirement in either TOEFL or IELTS. The minimum requirement for Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is a minimum score of 550 (paper-based test), 213 (computer-based test), or 80 (internet test), however some departments and programs require submission of a TOEFL score of 610 (paper-based test), 255 (computer-based test), or 103 (internet test) or higher. The minimum requirement for International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is minimum score of 7.0, however some departments and programs require submission of an IELTS score of 7.5. GRE or GMAT is required for some courses.
