The School of Journalism at Indiana University is steeped in nearly 100 years of tradition, a heritage that ensures that graduates are armed with reporting, editing and writing skills to serve them well in their new careers. Outside the classroom, students interact with professional journalists who are part of our national speaker series, study abroad and network with our alumni. Even though most graduates specialize in one or two areas, they also have a range of abilities to qualify for a variety of careers.
But the school also strives to adapt to changes in the profession, to respond to new developments in the way news is delivered and to prepare students to work in different environments. Alumni work in traditional journalism careers as reporters, editors and broadcasters but also are public relations executives, online magazine owners, Web publishers, advertising media buyers and journalism educators.
The School of Journalism helps students meet their own goals by preparing them for Media Careers That Matter.
