This program provides a contemporary education in a multidisciplinary area. Its objective is to produce graduates who: have the ability to identify, formulate, and solve open-ended problems with medical relevance, including the design of devices, systems, and processes to improve human health; are able to pursue a wide range of career options, including those in industry, academia, and medicine; and are able to advance to leadership positions in their chosen field. Students who complete the program may pursue career opportunities in biomedical industries, such as design and development of biomedical instrumentation, diagnostic aids, life-support systems, prosthetic and orthotic devices, and man-machine systems; or they may pursue traditional career opportunities in industry, such as those rooted in mechanical or electrical engineering disciplines. Other career options are available in government (food and drug administration, environmental protection agency, national institutes of health, veteran’s affairs). Some biomedical engineering graduates elect to continue formal education in engineering, medicine, or law. The biomedical engineering major builds on the foundation provided by the college of engineering core curriculum, preparing students for the challenges and opportunities associated with careers in the profession. 国际学生入学要求:
 

Students must have completed academic upper secondary school (generally a total of 12-13 years of primary and secondary education), or a corresponding secondary school diploma or leaving certificate. They must meet above-average grades in a university-preparatory program. They should have completed the required amount of secondary school preparation in the following areas: mathematics four years, science three years, social studies two years, native language four years and single foreign language two years. Students whose first language is not in English must have obtained a minimum TOEFL score of 530 on the paper-based test or 71 on the internet-based test for regular admission, or they should have a minimum International English Language Testing System (IELTS) score of 6.5.
