The College of Law - A Proud History
Established in 1897, the University of Illinois College of Law has a century-old tradition of excellence and is consistently regarded as one of the nation’s Top 10 public law schools. The College of Law was a charter member of the Association of American Law Schools and the home of the founding chapter of the law honor society now known as the Order of the Coif. Illinois has been the home to many of the nation’s great law textbook and treatise writers and is the birthplace of the interdisciplinary movements such as law and economics and law and psychology.

Among the first to receive the designation, the College of Law has been recognized as an American Bar Association-approved law school since 1923. For more information, contact:
