The average American requires 24 acres of land with average global productivity to produce the resources and absorb the waste from his consumption. As citizens of the Earth, we only have 4.5 acres per person of such land available, and that assumes we leave nothing left for other species. This calculation is possible because of a tool called the [Tool X], which measures the sustainability of a business, country, city or individual by calculating how much of the total renewable yield of the Earth is required to produce the resources for and absorb the waste of a variety of consumption behaviors (e.g. eating, driving, lighting a home, etc.). In my current position as Project Manager for [Company X], I have taken this concept and given it a number of business applications. My roudest achievement has been co-authoring a research study of ways to use the [Tool X] to improve the accuracy of long-term financial predictions. Through research and contact with finance professionals around the world, I have found ways in which the [Tool X] can help financial analysts improve the accuracy of financial predictors, such as those underlying sovereign country credit tings. By publishing this research, and through the contacts I have made in the finance industry, I hope to create momentum in the business community to begin tracking natural resource usage and to better understand the business risk related to resources. I believe that the widespread use of sustainability measures will encourage resource efficiency and respect for environmental limits.
