This program is intended for students who wish to pursue a career in or near the public sector. Students take coursework in areas as diverse as American and comparative politics, political theory, international relations, public policy, and public administration. Students leave the major with an understanding of how politics and government operate, an appreciation for the values governments pursue, and the critical and analytic skills necessary for understanding the empirical and normative dimensions of the political world.

 

国际学生入学要求:

 Students should have a graduation from a regionally accredited or state-approved secondary school or the equivalent (G.E.D., etc.). Students should have a overall GPA of 2.0; Successful completion of three of the four political science critical tracking courses (CPO 2001, INR 2001, POS 2041, or POT 2001) and Statistics with a minimum grade of C; and A grade point average of 3.00 or better in the above courses. A cumulative C average in the academic core, as computed by the university, at all institutions attended high school and college. A combined score of at least 1330 on the critical reading, math and writing sections of the SAT (with writing), with a minimum score of 440 on each. Effective with the 2009 entering class, the university will begin considering the writing portion of the SAT. On the ACT with Writing, a composite score of 19 is required with a minimum of 17 on the English subsection, a minimum of 19 on the math subsection and a minimum of 18 on the reading subsection. ACT scores without the Writing component cannot be used for freshman admission decisions. International students whose native language is not English should have a TOEFL score Paper-Based: 550, Computer-Based: 213, Internet-Based: 80 or IELTS: 6, MELAB: 77. International students are exempt from the English proficiency requirement if enrolled for one academic year in a degree-seeking program at a recognized/regionally accredited university or college in a country where English is the official language prior to your anticipated term of enrollment at UF.
